The municipality of Marratxí belongs to the north-east outskirts of the capital Palma. In the last years, many people who work in Palma have settled down here, which has raised the number of habitants in the municipality to approx. 30.000 by now. Marratxí has not a centre with the same name. It is rather composed by a series of different localities located just before Palma such as Sa Cabaneta, Pórtol and Es Pont d'Inca. Marratxí is known on the one hand for its ceramic and pottery and on the other hand for the sun-dried chili pepper which is produced in this region. Marratxí and its properties are especially appreciated because of the proximity to Palma. In some parts, the hilly situations enable you to enjoy a fantastic view onto Palma, although these properties are located in quiet localities off the beaten track of the city.
